Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Backstory

I grew up in a small town in Connecticut. Maybe it’s because time moved slower there but everything deeply interested me, from physics to philosophy to poetry. My parents, both PhDs, fostered a voracious love of learning. There was never any pressure to pick a lane. Cosmologist, freelance writer, classical pianist – I had wild ambitions and dreamed of each in equal measure.

As I got older, the world got bigger. My appetite to take it in never decreased. In college, I discovered a love for teaching while studying finance, creative writing, and math. I moved to Silicon Valley because I wanted to be in the epicenter of technology, which is, to me, the application of all human knowledge.

I started out at Morgan Stanley where I met brilliant people and understood what a good business could look like. Now, at Sequoia, I feel so privileged to partner with the founders who understand the trajectory of humanity and design for that future.

On the lookout for

I owe so much to my parents. They left their families in India with nothing but two scholarships and a dream, and built a wonderful life for me and my brother. I respect founders for the same reason – the ambitious, high-agency, zeroth-principle thinkers who bet it all on an idea.

Across tech, I’m interested in everything from moonshot ideas to businesses that fundamentally change la vie quotidienne. This is an extraordinary moment in time. The best companies will continuously adapt and separate enduring change from near-term noise.
